I certify that Dr Chaldecott Cate Acting Colonial Surgeon has been attending Mr A. Weatherhead Clerk of the Supreme Court, for the last 9 months for Irritable Stricture of the urethra and Chronic disease of the kidneys. The disease has latterly much increased and on careful examination of Mr. Weatherhead I am of opinion that he can derive no benefit from further treatment in China and return to England is absolutely necessary. I further declare my belief that he will not be able to resume his duties in less than one very long Year.

(Signed) Eamon Mery Steff Surgeon.

Victoria, Hong Kong 15th April 1859.

(True Copy) Mourn Colonial Secretary.
